The Austin Runners Meetup is a free running group for runners of all levels. Our group is fun, friendly, and positive. We organize a series of runs throughout the week for you to enjoy. Please note that while our group does not provide running education or training (e.g. how to run with proper form, what to eat, what shoes to wear, etc.), there are training groups in the Austin area that provide proper instruction on running and many other running-related topics. We are just a bunch of guys an …
I wanted to inform everyone that I was renaming the group Alamo Bicycle and Multisports to go back to the roots of the group which was bicycling and add the multisports for the runners, swimmers, tennis players, raquet ball players etc...... The whole concept is to get together and enjoy ourselves doing whatever we wanted concerning an agreed upon activity. I really didn't want to rename the group but it seemed strange not to have bicycle in the group name when a majority of our members are bi …

This is a running group for people who are looking for others to run with. All levels are welcome, however distances usually start at around 4-6 miles, with longer distances available for those looking for more training mileage. Most folks in the group are training at paces between 8 and 12 minutes per mile. This group emphasizes trail running and we run natural, unpaved trail surfaces whenever situations permit, such as weather, trail conditions, and lighting. Please review the calendar detail …

This a group of like-minded athletes concerned with injury prevention and optimizing performance. It's also for the average Joe or Jane who just wants to enjoy running like a child enjoys running. Our motto is "If you don't enjoy running you're not doing it right". Minimalist runners are more than welcome and we strongly encouraged all runners to attend our meet-ups to learn how nature intended us to run.
Team Challenge is a fundraising program for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Starting in August we will be recruiting runners and walkers for our Inaugural Team in the Austin area. Team Challenge members will be training to rock The Strip at Night in the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon on December 4, 2011 while raising funds to support the vital mission of CCFA.
This is a social group with the main focus on attending mud runs in and around Austin. The group will also have events for training and happy hour meet-ups to meet fellow mudders!
The groups purpose is to meet up for trail running. Join if you are comfortable on the trails and if you can run at least for 50 min without stopping. The trail is an equalizer for speed, so don't worry too much about speed. We may also sometimes post beginner runs, but will clearly identify the no drop runs. You are welcome to post a run and invite others. We want this group to remain as open as we can so that everyone can find running buddies in their area to go and hit the trails. Please join …
Hi, Thanks for joining our Meetup - I'm Rob Hill, the executive director and head coach of Team Spiridon. We're a non-profit group here in Austin that provides low-cost training for runners, that then raise funds for local animal welfare organizations like Austin Pets Alive, Emancipet, Love-a-Bull, Animal Trustees of Austin, and others. Last year, in only our second year as a non-profit, our runners raised almost $8,000 during their six months of half marathon and marathon training, bringing our …

We are a group of runners who run distances typicall longer than a marathon, 26.2 miles. We run on road or trail; however, a majority of the runs are on trail due to lower impact on the body. Those runs that are not on trail are typically track workouts or hill repeats on road. If you are new to the sport or have a remote interest in ultrarunning look no further. All levels of expertise are welcome but be forewarned we are here to have fun and learn, not necessarily to compete. We are aimed a …

RuffTail Runners (formerly "Jog-a-Dog") is a program brought to you by Team Spiridon, that encourages runners to run with shelter dogs, giving the dogs a little more exercise “off-campus”, away from the stressful shelter environment. As a result, they are better-adjusted, healthier, and therefore, more adoptable. This program is for runners, or at least walkers who can get the dogs out for a few miles - higher paces keep the dogs more focused and gives them more exercise, and makes some of them …

This group is for adventurers that want to do more than simply kayak lakes. I started this group to introduce lake paddlers and others to the fun and excitement of Texas river kayaking. All skill levels are welcome. Kayaks and transportation can be provided. Day trips and extended trips will be planned with an annual Colorado trip in the works. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.
Whether walker, hiker, runner, cyclist or mountain biker—paved trail or creek bed; this group is open to all users of the Leon Creek Greenway. Rather than solely another activity-based group, this interest group is also location-based. I've met many people at the greenway, it seems most are there solo. Since it can also be fun to join others, the goal of this group is to function as a bulletin board for all greenway users to invite others to join in their activities.
Let's read the book and then watch the movie! Lots of great movies are based on books: Fried Green Tomatoes, The Shining, Wag the Dog, Trainspotting, Blade Runner, Munich... It's fun to experience both forms of storytelling.
